Man... Fandoms come and go, and you get used to that. But the saddest part about a fandom's fall from its golden age is looking back and missing all those wild-eyed talents that made it so great.

I hope you guys are still out there, somewhere. Here's to you!

Fandom friends...

I made some great friends when I was in the Criminal Minds fandom, both international. I truly miss them, and think of them often. And I still check in with a couple of great folks from the X-Files days. I already miss voices in BBC Sherlock. It's hard to have these long hiatus periods and keep everyone together.

Also, it helps that I've got over 1200 fan stories on my Kindle. Keeps me in the mood a lot longer. And I'm extra lucky because I have a terrible memory, so I can read a story from 4 years ago and be delighted with plot twists as if I'd never read them at all.

Fandoms, by and large, have been a gift to me. So many terrific writers, funny and brilliant women (and occasionally men). It's my traveling circus, my Victorian Salon, my dealer, my place to rant and cry and be happy. Lucky, lucky, even though the days go by, and so do some amazing people.

Ohhhh, many fandoms, all glorious in their time. These things come and go, and I'm grateful to have them for as long as they last.

I hopped onto the Sherlock fandom mere weeks after S2 aired in the US.

THOSE WERE THE DAYS, MAN.

They really, really were. I'm glad we were there to see them. ^_^

Sherlock S1 feels like a different world... yep I miss those voices!

Hoo boy, it surely does!

Not every fandom hits that crest, you know? But man oh man, when you manage to catch one, what a ride. Always ends eventually, though.

What brought this on was rediscovering [livejournal.com profile] putigress2012's LJ and pining over the unfinished stories there.

Oh lord, unfinished stories. I always wish I could somehow finish them myself, haha.

I probably have no right. I have enough abandoned WIPs of my own lying around. Hahaha ha. Ha.

Er.

I really miss active LJ fandom days. Even in smaller less active fandoms it felt more cohesive. It feels weird being out of Sherlock but still friended to people on tumblr since the nature of tumblr means I'm ignoring a lot of content and there's less of the little personal things and small interactions to keep people talking. I miss a lot of the people I used to talk to but by now I'm used to it happening. Ah well.
Glad to see you around. :]

Yeah, I've kind of been hovering in that space on Tumblr, a bit. A lot of the people I originally followed for Sherlock have moved on, too, to fandoms I'm even less involved in. But I still follow them because I like them and I want to know how they're doing. ^_^ Even if what they're working on has nothing to do with my interests, I still let out a little internal cheer each time I see them accomplish something.

I miss LJ too. Tumblr's got its uses, but for actual getting-to-know-you talk and in-depth conversation, LJ is so much better.

Glad to see you around! I miss talking to you.

(I probably should post again myself, shouldn't I? *hides*)
